- Patricia A. 'Pat' Johnson
Patricia A. "Pat" Johnson, 77, of, Westmoreland, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012, at Rome
Memorial Hospital. She was born on September 23, 1934, in Aurora, Illois, the daughter of Robert and
Marion Hawkins Young. She was a graduate of Madonna High School in aurora, Ill. On April 20, 1956, Pat
was united in marriage to Arnold E. "Gene" Johnson in Rutland, Vermont.
She was employed by Griffiss Air Force Base prior to her marriage. Pat later worked at the Rome United
Methodist Church as the parish secretary for several years. After retiring from the Methodist Church, she
returned to Rome Laboratory where she worked until her retirement in 1995.
Pat was a very active member of the Westmoreland United Methodist Church and also active in the Rome
United Methodist Church. She was on the board of Trustees at the Westmoreland United Methodist Church
and was the President of the Golden Years Group at the Rome First United Methodist Church.
She was on
the Board of Visitors at the Rome Deaf School
. She was a former Girl Scout Leader of Troop #225.
Surviving besides her loving husband of fifty-five years, Gene; are two daughters and a son-in-law, Cindy
and Ken Nicholas, of Rome, and Pamela Johnson, of Verona; two sons,
Ben Johnson, of Havelock, NC,
and Robbie Johnson, Rome; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Donald Rose, of New Berlin; a
step-son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Mary Ann Johnson, of Poland; a brother and sister-in-law, David
and Barbara Oswood, of Aurora, Ill.; and three grandchildren, David, Ashley, and Tyler. Pat was
predeceased by a grandson, Timothy Nicholas on June 24, 2009.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012, at the Westmoreland United Methodist Church at
11:00 a.m. where the Rev. James Martinez will officiate. Interment will take place in Rome Cemetery. Family
and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00p.m. at the Nunn and
Harper Funeral Home, Inc, 418 N. George St., Rome.
Contributions may be made in Pat's memory to the Westmoreland United Methodist Church Memorial Fund
or the Humane Society of Rome.

- Joan Finnerty Hanson
Joan Finnerty  Hanson, 86, passed away Saturday, January, 21, 2012, at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home with
her loving family by her side. She was born on April 17, 1925, in Woodside, L.I. to the late Thomas and Ethel
Mawby Finnerty.
Joan and her family moved to Gloversville in 1943. Her greatest joy was her family especially babysitting her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joan is survived by her children, Peggy Lee (Richard) of Gloversville, Jackie Johnson of Northville, Michael
Hanson (Mary Ellen) of Cleveland, Ohio, and
Timothy Hanson (Diane) of El Paso, Texas; her 16
grandchildren Richard, Scott, Todd, Christine, Jaydene, Matt, Gregory, Jeramiah, Eric, John, Jefferey, Lori,
Conner, Maya, Adam, and Isabelle; also her 20 great-grandchildren.
Joan was predeceased by her brother, Kenneth; sister, Ethel; her daughter, Nancy Cassero; and great-
grandson, Alex.
It was Joan's wishes that there be no services. Cremation took place at Leatherstocking Crematory, Cherry
valley, N.Y..
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Syracuse, passed away Monday. A lifetime resident of the Syracuse area, he was a graduate of the Rome
School of the Deaf. Tom was employed by Penn Traffic for 13 years. He was a member of the NYS
Teamsters Union 317 and enjoyed sports, especially bowling. Tom was predeceased by his parents, Ernest
and June Wescott; and brothers, Wayne and Charles Wescott. Surviving are his wife of 13 years, the former
Christina Springer; daughter, Amanda Lipford; sons, Christopher Jhanke and Thomas Wescott; step
children, Virgil, Becky, Jonah and Stan Dombroski, Chrystal Kent and Nicky McCord; sister, Doreen Wescott;
brothers, John (Wendy), Donald (Cathy), Daniel, Ronald and David (Suzanne); sisters-in-law, Violet Wescott
and Valerie Brezee; many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at

Age 64, of Seeley Road, Cayuta, NY, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Robert Packer
Hospital, Sayre, PA. John is survived by his wife of 45 years,
Ruth K. Adams, children, John (Sue) Adams,
Shirley Adams, (Kim), Billy (Michelle) Adams, Betty Adams, Mary Adams (Bruce), and Frank (Brandy)
Adams; 26 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank, Dick and Jake; sisters, Laura Lepp
and Linda Weaver. His parents, Jason and Laura Adams; and a grandson, Harold Fenton, Jr., predeceased
John. Mr. Adams was the former president of the Rochester Society for the Deaf and was a member of the B
owling Deaf Club and loved to play Euchre. He loved all of his friends in the Deaf Club. Relatives and friends
are invited to call at the Vedder and Scott Funeral Home, 122 N. Genesee St., Montour Falls, NY on
Wednesday, December 23, 2009, from 2 pm to 4 pm. His funeral and committal service will be held there

, 84, of Endicott, went to be with the Lord Saturday morning, November 28, 2009 at Our
Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his mother, Mary (DeHaas) Davis; stepfather, William
Davis; brother, Paul DeHaas He is survived by his wife,
Doris DeHaas, Endicott; two sons and a daughter-
in-law, Ronald and Diana DeHaas, Endicott, Terry E. DeHaas, Endicott; grandchildren, Jason and Derek
DeHaas, Traci J. Smith, Gregory and Ryan DeHaas; great grandchildren, Lief and Sage DeHaas; three
nephews, Jimmy, David and Danny DeHaas. He was Past President of the Triple Cities Club for the Deaf. He
was a member of D.E.A.F., past member of the Fraternal Order of the Deaf, Binghamton Chapter and a
former employee of Bates Troy Laundry in Binghamton.
Funeral and Interment services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home

Smith, Herbert RENSSELAER Herbert "Herbie" C. Smith, age 74, of Partition Street, passed away
Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Herbie was born in Rensselaer and was a
lifelong resident of the city. He worked as a forklift operator for Ruch Dis-tributors and retired in 1996.
Herbie was an avid NY Yankee fan and a NY Giants football fan. He also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and fishing.

GRANVILLE, N.Y.. - Glenora "Babe" Forcucci, age 87, of Granville, N.Y.. went to join her son Joe on
Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009. Babe passed away peacefully at her daughter Pat's home in Saratoga Springs
with her daughter at her side.
Babe was born in Skaneatles Falls, N.Y.. on Aug. 30, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and
Anna Wright.
She was a devoted mother who always put her family first.
Babe leaves behind three children: Pat Gussey (Mark) of Saratoga Springs,
Deborah Pardi (Tim) of
Herkimer, N. Y. and Anthony Forcucci (Chris) of Coralville, Iowa, and daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Forcucci of
Chatham, N.Y.. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-
law, Filomena Carota of Glens Falls and Jane Wright of Granville and one brother-in-law, Samuel (Anna)
Forcucci of Cortland, N.Y.. and several nieces and nephews.
Babe was predeceased by her son, Joseph, a sister, Ruth William, and brothers, Arthur Wright of Granville
and Robert Wright of Buffalo.
Babe was an active member of the American Legion Auxillary and worked for several years as a garment
worker at the J & J in Granville. Her whole life was devoted to loving, supporting and caring for her children.
She will be dearly missed by them.
Babe's children would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at The Community Hospice of
Saratoga for the wonderful care and comfort provided to their mother. A special thank you to Dixie Smith
and Kelli Foley, Mom's Hospice nurses.
There will be a memorial service and interment in the spring.

HENDERSON, N.Y..  —  Catherine A. Sayyeau, 64, of 9604 County Route 71, Henderson, died Friday, Jan.
9, at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.
Born July 3, 1944, in Watertown, the daughter of Raymond and Helen Sawchuk Fisher, she retired as a line
worker from Sherwood Medical, Watertown, in 1999 after 37 years.
She was married to Donald Sayyeau.
She loved sewing and animals.
Surviving her are two nephews and a niece.  
A sister,
Dorothy A. Stevenson, died before her.
A funeral service will be held 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown. A calling
hour will be held 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, prior to the funeral. Burial will be in the spring in Lake Side
Cemetery, Sackets Harbor.

Mary Alice Wilson
of Conklin
Mary Alice Wilson, 70, of Conklin, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 7, 2009. Mary Alice was
born in Pleasant Mount, Pa., and moved to the Binghamton area in 1957 and went to work at IBM Endicott in
1957, where she retired after 22 years. She was also employed at General Electric and Singer Link. Mary
Alice was a longtime parishioner of St. Andrews Church. She loved all aspects of home decorating and most
especially painting; she also enjoyed gardening and making crafts and was a very avid Yankee fan. She was
an incredibly devoted daughter, wife, mother and friend. Her tremendous spirit of love and selflessness will
be missed by all those who knew her and her contagious smile will never be forgotten. She is predeceased
by her beloved mother and father, Elizabeth and Daniel Leonard. She is survived by her husband of 44
years, Robert; two daughters and one son-in-law,
Katrina and Thomas Lipyanic, Daleville, Pa., Kimberly
Wilson, Ormond Beach, Fla.; one son,
RJ (Bobby) Wilson, Rochester.

Thomas F. Barber

CHAUMONT, NY - Thomas F. Barber, 86, of Three Mile Point Road, died Friday morning at the Samaritan
Medical Center. He had been a resident at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home for 4 1/2 years.
Mr. Barber was an instructor at the New York State for the Deaf in Rome for 15 years.
Born Dec. 19, 1922, in Watertown, son of George C. and Catherine E. Miller Barber, he graduated from
Watertown High School.
He married Margaret C. Gleason on July 21, 1945. She died in 2005.
Mr. Barber served 21 years of active duty in the Air Force. He was a pilot, 2nd lieutenant, during World War
II and spend two years as a P.O.W. Following his re-enlistment, Mr. Barber served as a meteorologist and
was discharged with the rank of chief warrant officer 3 in 1963.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael T., Camden, Brad and Laurie, Copenhagen; two
grandchildren, Kaylynn and Dylan, several nieces and nephews.
Three sisters, Norma M. Olvert, Elma Walton, Meryl F. Maurer and a brother Eldon "Spike" Barber, all died
before him.
There are no calling hours or funeral.
A graveside service will be in the spring at Parrish Road Cemetery.
